Wigan Athletic sign keeper Al Habsi on loan

Wigan Athletic have completed the signing of Omani keeper Ali Al-Habsi on a season long loan from Bolton Wanderers.  The 28 year old has been brought to the DW Stadium by Latics boss Roberto Martinez as cover for the injury prone Chris Kirkland, who suffers from recurring back problems.

Al Habsi signed for Bolton in 2006 from Norwegian club Lyn Oslo, but has found first team appearances hard to come by at the Reebok Stadium thanks to the consistency of Jussi Jaaskelainen.

Al Habsi is contracted to Bolton till 2013, having penned a contract extension in December 2008.

Apart from Lyn and Bolton, Al Habsi has also plied his trade for Al-Midhaibi and Al Nasr.
