According to reports in Italy, Napoli are interested in signing Kevin de Bruyne this summer. The veteran Belgian midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and will leave Manchester City after a decade-long stay at the Etihad.
Napoli have had great success with the likes of Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour (both signed from the Premier League) this season and the club reckon the Belgian will be a valuable addition to their ranks.
De Bruyne though is said to prefer a stay in England, and the likes of Liverpool and Aston Villa are also said to be interested in the midfield playmaker. There’s also been talk of a move to Major League Soccer in the United States.
Napoli are hoping that the presence of Romelu Lukaku, De Bruyne’s friend and national team colleague, could influence the latter into making the move down south.
The Partenopei are 3 points ahead of Champions League finalists Inter in the Serie A title race with three games left to play this season. There’s also been talk of Conte leaving them at the end of the campaign despite him being contracted to Napoli till 2027, and Italian reports reckon Massimiliano Allegri could replace him at the club.
