Roy Hodgson planning loan swoop for Chelsea’s Sturridge

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson is planning to strengthen his forward line by making a loan bid for talented Chelsea youngster Daniel Sturridge in the upcoming winter transfer window.

The 21 year old Sturridge joined Chelsea from Manchester City in 2009, but has been restricted to activity from the bench with players like Salomon Kalou, Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka already available for the defending champions

Liverpool, on the other hand, have only one established striker in Fernando Torres, with David Ngog and Ryan Babel for support. Dutch forward Dirk Kuyt, who normally plays on the right flank, has also filled in as a striker when required for the Reds this season.

Sources say that if the loan move works out, Liverpool will look to sign Sturridge on a permanent deal in the summer window.

Manchester City will get 15% of any transfer fee Chelsea receive from Sturridge’s sale.
