Gillingham sign Gowling on permanent basis

Defender Josh Gowling has made his loan move from Carlisle United to Gillingham a permanent one. The Coventry born centre half has put pen to paper a two year contract at the Priestfield Stadium.

Gowling had joined the Gills on a month long loan from Carlisle in July, and recently had his loan deal extended so that he could feature in the Carling Cup game against Blackburn Rovers. With Simon King injured, Gills boss Mark Stimpson has chosen to play Gowling alongside Garry Richards in defence in recent games.

Gowling started his career with West Brom, and then moved to Denmark for two seasons. Bournemouth offered him a return to England, and he left the Cherries in 2008 for Carlisle United.
