Foxes to sign Liverpool youngster and Italian set to stay

Championship side Leicester City look set to sign talented Liverpool youngster Jay Spearing on loan. The loan deadline is on Thursday and Leicester boss Nigel Pearson wants to move quickly to secure the young midfielders signature.

Spearing is highly rated at Anfield after leading the youth side to glory in 2007. However he is way down in the midfield pecking order with some big competition for places at Anfield. The Reds boss Rafa Benitez is said to be happy to let the youngster go out on loan in order to gain valuable first team experience.

Spearing has some first team experience with Liverpool’s first team having made his competitive debut in December 2008 as a substitute against Dutch side PSV in Champions league. The 21 year-old has now made five appearances for the first team and started his first game against Sunderland last October.

Meanwhile Liverpool have rubbished reports that midfielder Alberto Aquilani is set to leave the club this summer. The Italian international has struggled with injuries this season since his £20million move from Roma last summer.

He has received fierce criticism from the media and a section of the fans. However his agent insist he will not be making a quick return to Serie A this summer. Franco Zavaglia told Tuttomercatoweb.com: “False news has been circulated around,”

“The player is happy in England and he will stay there with no problems. There is absolutely nothing that concerns him.”
