Everton looking at young US keeper

Premier League Everton are showing an interest in 21 year-old USA keeper Zac MacMath. The youngster plays in the MLS with Philadelphia Union. MacMath has already enjoyed two trial spells on Merseyside with the Toffees, where he linked up with compatriot Tim Howard.

The youngster is highly-rated and is expected to train with the Premier League outfit for a few weeks. This arrangement is not usually in the MLS with teammate Christian Hernandez set to train at Spanish La Liga side Real Sociedad.

Everton have a history of signing players from the States, with the likes of Joe Max-Moore and Brian McBride enjoying spells at Goodison Park. The most recent arrival from the MLS was USA captain and star Landon Donovan.

The midfielder has spent two successful loan spells at Everton in the MLS off-season and is being linked with joining the Toffee’s for a third spell this January. However, it doesn’t look like MacMath’s stay at Goodison will be as high-profile.
