Whittaker and Naismith reject contract transfers

Rangers duo Steven Whittaker and Steve Naismith have rejected the transfers of their contracts to newly formed Sevco, owned by Charles Green. The status of Rangers’ SPL status next season is unclear, with Hibernian, Heart of Midlothian and Dundee United already announcing that they would reject Newco’s application to enter the SPL next season.

Both Whittaker and Naismith, who took legal advice before announcing their decisions, are considering themselves to be free agents and have already been linked with a move south to England.

The duo’s announcement comes on the heels of Rhys McCabe and Sone Aluko deciding not to prolong their careers with the Ibrox outfit. The likes of Carlos Bocanegra and Steven Davis are also expected to announce their decision soon.
