Veteran defender Hall signs for Northampton

Former England U-21 captain and veteran defender Marcus Hall has joined League Two outfit Northampton Town on a one year contract. The 34 year old moves to the Saddlers from Coventry City, where he was released at the end of last season.

Hall, a Coventry youth product, spent eight years with the Sky Blues between 1994 and 2002 before joining Nottingham Forest in 2002. From Forest, he joined Southampton, where he did not make even a single first team appearance before leaving for Stoke City. He spent three years with the Potters before returning to Coventry in 2005.

Cobblers boss Ian Sampson expressed delight at the signing and said that he hoped Hall would excel at the left back position for the club.
