Sturridge Set For Manchester City Exit

Highly rated Manchester City striker Daniel Sturridge is expected to leave Eastlands at the end of the month when his contract expires. The 19 year old made the first team breakthrough last season and is rated as a top prospect for the future.

Chelsea are favourites for the starlets signature and the side from Stamford Bridge could have to pay upto £5 million compensation. Aston Villa and West Ham are also said to be interested in acquiring the youngster’s services.

City look prepared to lose Sturridge with new signing Roque Santa Cruz and impending arrival Carlos Tevez set to dominate the striking positions next season. City manager Mark Hughes admitted this week that the striker’s future was out of his hands saying:

“We are not in a position to dictate that [Sturridge’s future] really,”

“We have offered Daniel a deal that we think is at the level he should be at.

“He is in a strong position because he is in the last year of his contract

“He is keeping his options open, which he has done for quite some time, we just have to wait and see.

“Obviously I have made my intentions very clear to him I would like him to stay but it may be out of our hands.”
