Official: Adebayor moves to Real Madrid on loan

Manchester City Football Club have confirmed on the official site that Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor has moved to Real Madrid on loan till the end of the season. The Spanish club has an unilateral option of signing the striker for a fee of £13 millon at the end of the season. City were reluctant to let go of Adebayor on a loan deal; they would have preferred a permanent move. His former club Monaco were interested in taking him back to France. But Real Madrid made a decisive call and agreed to pay the striker’s entire salary during his loan spell. Adebayor will fit right into the Madrid setup. Jose Mourinho has just one fit striker on his books in Karim Benzema and Manu would give him more options up front.

Adebayor moved to City from Arsenal in 2009. During his time at Eastlands, he scored 15 goals in 34 appearances. But he soon became surplus to requirements after training ground bust-ups and a fall-out with Roberto Mancini over his attitude in training. He has not made the City squad in the recent games and Roberto Mancini sanctioned his move after signing Edin Dzeko from Wolfsburg.

City are keep tabs on Dani Alves and David Ruiz as they look for a couple of reinforcements before the window draws to a close at the end of the month.
