Nacho Monreal to leave Arsenal

It is believed that Spanish defender Nacho Monreal might leave Arsenal before the end of the transfer window with Real Sociedad interested in the player. The player who is currently 33 years old has yet to make a start for Arsenal this season.

He has been one of the best Arsenal defenders in recent years but given his age, it is unlikely that he will be offered a new contract with the current one expiring at the end of the season. It is believed that Unai Emery wants the player to stay with them this season and leave on a free transfer next season.

Arsenal signed Kieran Tierney from Celtic during the transfer window and already has Sead Kolasinac that can operate as left-back.

However, the new recruit is still injured and will not be available until October. With the Europa League games and domestic cup games that will be coming thick and fast in the coming months, it is unlikely that Unai Emery will allow the player to leave unless he has a clear plan on how to cope without the player.

Indeed he has just recently been named as one of the three players that will be captaining the team following the departure of Laurent Koscielny. It is believed that Arsenal will require a sum of £3million from Real Sociedad before allowing the player to discuss terms.

Nacho Monreal believes that he can play at the highest level for a few more seasons and will consider any offer that will be made for him. At the moment he is an Arsenal player and that he wants to give his best for the team. He said that he is focused on the new season and wants to help the team win as many games as possible.
