Liverpool midfielder Maxi Rodriguez has left the club to return to his native Argentina. The 31 year old will join with Newell’s Old Boys back in South America, ending a two and a half year stint with the Reds. Maxi moved to Anfield from Atletico Madrid in 2010 and had a year left on his contract with the Merseyside outfit.
The Argentine struggled to hold down a first team spot in his time at Anfield and was mostly restricted to appearances from the bench. He however did acquit himself admirably, netting a total of seventeen times for the Reds in 73 appearances. He also scored two hat tricks in his time at Anfield.
