Kranjcar opts for Eastern switch

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Niko Kranjcar has left the Lilywhites prior to the start of Euro 2012 by signing for Ukrainian outfit Dynamo Kyiv. Kranjcar had been strongly linked with a move to either Russia or Ukraine after being restricted to warming the bench at the Lane during the 11/12 season.

Kranjcar has put pen to paper a four year contract at Dynamo. The move to the Ukrainian capital will see him join fellow Croat Ognjen Vukojevic at Dynamo Kyiv. Croatian national captain Darijo Srna also plies his trade in Ukraine, but plays for Dynamo’s domestic rivals Shakhtar.

The transfer ends Kranjcar’s six year stay in England. He arrived in the country when he moved from Zagreb to Portsmouth back in 2006. He made only nine starts for Spurs last season.
