Newcastle left back Jose Enrique has rebuffed news linking him to a possible switch to Liverpool, saying that no negotiations were taking place currently between him and the Reds. Enrique, one of Newcastle’s better players in the 2010/2011 season, is reportedly a target for new Reds gaffer Kenny Dalglish as he gets set to make Liverpool title contenders next season.
Liverpool do not have a specialist left back at this moment, with Dalglish using natural right defender Glen Johnson at that position and youngster Jack Robinson when the former has not been available.
Meanwhile the Reds’ fierce rivals, newly crowned champions, Manchester United, have also been linked with a move for Enrique, whose current contract with Newcastle is over at the end of the 2011/2012 season.
