Gers move for Reds youngster

Rangers have officially completed the signing of Ryan Kent from Liverpool. The 22 year old winger had a spell on loan at Ibrox last season and impressed the powers that be enough for them to complete a permanent move on transfer deadline day.

The Gers had originally wanted a second loan stint, but Liverpool weren’t too keen, which lead to discussions over a permanent switch. The Scottish outfit will pay a fee of around the £7m to the Reds, with add-ons and a potential 20% sell-on clause also included in the deal.

Kent therefore becomes Rangers’ biggest signing of the summer and joins former LFC youth team mate Sheyi Ojo, who is currently on loan at Ibrox, at the club. Manager Steven Gerrard has attempted to strengthen his side as they seek to break Celtic’s dominance over the SPL, also bringing in the likes of Filipe Helander and Andy King from Bologna and Leicester respectively.

Rangers lost their last league game- an Old Firm one over the weekend, 2-0 to their bitter rivals. They’re currently second in the Scottish Premiership behind Celtic, having picked up 9 points from four games so far, and have also qualified for the group stages of the Europa League, where they’ll face Young Boys, Porto and Feyenoord.
