Fulham sign former Liverpool star

Fulham have competed the signing of former Liverpool star Ryan Babel on a short term deal. The Dutch international joins the Cottagers from Turkish Super Lig outfit Besiktas and has penned a six month contract that will see him stay at Craven Cottage till the end of the current season.

Since his three and a half year spell at Anfield, Babel has been a much travelled footballer, representing the likes of Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga, Ajax in his native Netherlands, Kasimpasa in Turkey and Al Ain in the United Arab Emirates before joining Besiktas in 2017.

The move to Istanbul also breathed new life into his international career as Dick Advocaat recalled him to the Oranje squad. Babel currently has 54 international caps for the Netherlands.

Fulham are second from bottom in the league currently, but Babel has said that he believes they can stave off relegation, adding that he wouldn’t have come to the club if he didn’t believe in their ability to stay up.

Fulham are on a three game losing streak in 2019 and were beaten 2-1 by Burnley last weekend. They were also dumped out of the FA Cup by Oldham earlier this month.
Babel could make his debut this weekend when Claudio Ranieri’s side take on London rivals Spurs.
