Former Betis winger Denilson signs for Xi Mang Hai Phong

Former Real Betis winger Denilson has signed for V-League side Xi Mang Hai Phong. The 31 year old Brazilian, whose full name is Denilson de Oliviera Araujo, has signed a six month deal with the Vietnamese club.

Denilson is best remembered by the world for his seven year stay in Spain, where he made over 180 appearances for Real Betis. Betis paid Sao Paulo a world record fee of £21.5 million for his services in 1998

After leaving Spain, he had short spells with Bordeaux, Al Nasr and Dallas before returning to his native Brazil by signing a one year deal with Palmeiras in February 2008 . He went on trial with Bolton Wanderers in January 2009, but the club did not pursue their interest in him. He left Palmeiras for a three month stint with Itumbiara, and has now come to Asia to play for Xi Mang Hai Phong.
