Coppell the new Robins boss

Championship side Bristol City have appointed former-Reading boss Steve Coppell as their new manager. The experienced coach replaces Keith Millen, who was in temporarily charge after Gary Johnson left the club. Under Millen City enjoyed four victories in seven games but City boss Steve Lansdown decided to appoint a more experienced coach.

Lansdown revealed: “Keith will remain in charge for the remainder of the season. He has done an excellent job so far and therefore we would like him to see out the season for the club.” Keith Millen will stay on at the club as Coppell’s assistant manager.

Coppell has been out of the game since leaving Reading in May 2009. He enjoyed six years with the Royals and managed the club in 281 games. He lead Reading to the top flight for the first time in the history of the club. He will take control of the Robins on May 11th.

Bristol City have been a good solid Championship side in recent years and have been in and around the play-offs. Coppell is already planning on strengthening his squad and is expecting to challenge for promotion to the Premier League next season.
