Chelsea sign Dutch youngster, while Ruddy talks continue

Chelsea have signed young Holland international star Marco van Ginkel from Vitesse Arnhem. The 20-year-old cost a fee in the region of £8million and signed a five-year deal with the Blues. Van Ginkel is regarded as one of the rising stars of European football, having scored eight goals in the Eredivisie and won the Dutch Talent of the Year award.

The Blues are also understood to be in talks with Premier League rivals Norwich over the transfer of England keeper John Ruddy. The 26-year-old has impressed immensely at Carrow Road since making the move from Everton in 2010.

Chelsea are in need of a back-up keeper to number one Petr Cech, after backup keepers Hilario and Ross Turnbull left the club this summer after their contracts expired. Ruddy is regarded are a superb shot stopper and his performances for the Canaries brought a call-up to the full England squad.

Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu is being linked with a loan move to Spanish club Valencia. The former-Barcelona youngster has also been linked with a temporarily switch to Celta Vigo. Romeu has struggled for first team action at Stamford Bridge since his arrival and a move could allow him to gain first experience.
