Bent set to seal Sunderland move

Darren Bent could finally seal his £14million move to Tottenham, with the England international currently undergoing his medical in the North-East. The Tottenham striker launched an astonishing attack on Spurs chairman Daniel Levy via social networking site Twitter last week, as he believed that his chairman was holding up the move.

He has since apologised for the attack and has deleted his account. He did admit in that outburst that he only wanted to move to Sunderland and wasn’t interested in moves to Hull and Stoke, who were both reportedly interested in signing the former Charlton star.

The 25 year-old has found it hard to secure regular first-team football at White Hart Lane and the summer arrival of Portsmouth striker Peter Crouch has pushed him down the pecking order even further.

Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has became frustrated by the time its taken for the transfer to be completed, but it now looks like his frustration could now be over. The Mackems boss has already brought in midfielder Lorik Cana from Marseille, Frazier Campbell from Manchester United and defender Paula Da Silva from Toluca this summer.

There are also reports that Bruce could now turn his attention to Lyon centre-back John Mensah. The Ghana international has admitted that being linked with Premier League clubs is ‘great’, West Ham are also interested in the signing the former Rennes defender.
