Bayern enter race for Dayot Upamecano

RB Leipzig currently have one of the most wanted defensive players in the world of football. Dayot Upamecano and Ibrahima Konate have attracted interests from various clubs across the continent and their affordable release clause have put the pressure on Leipzig to hold on to their top assets. With less than 50 million Euros the release clause being put in each of their contracts, the German club will have a hard time keeping hold of their defensive duo, with the likelihood of both leaving extremely high. Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have already credited their interest and now Bavarian giants seem to have entered the race.

Bayern Munich are dealing with the imminent loss of David Alaba to another club, most likely Real Madrid and are actively seeking a replacement for him. Upamecano already knows the league and has featured for the France national team and he is considered a prime target, according to Karl-Heinz Rummenige. A 42-5 million Euros release clause seems a good fit and he would become the backbone of Bayern’s defense for years to come. However, they have not dealt with Leipzig in the past and it would be a surprise, if Dayot opts for the Bavarian giants.

One who has also tipped for Upamecano’s move is the current Premier league champions Liverpool. After losing all three centre backs for the long term this season, Liverpool went on to sign Ben Davies and Ozak Kabak to boost their defensive ranks. However, Kabak’s deal was a loan so there is still place for another defender in the summer. Klopp has been a long admirer of Upamecano’s skills and the transfer fee required to sign him should not be a problem.

It will eventually come down to the 22-year old, who will have the final say on his transfer. In the world of unreliable deals and transfer fees it seems like a sureshot and it is a matter of time who Dayot Upamecano eventually chooses.
