Bale pens new deal at White Hart Lane

Gareth Bale has put the rumours surrounding his exit from White Hart Lane to rest by penning a fresh contract. The Welsh winger has committed his future to the club till 2016 by penning a contract extension. Bale was widely linked with a move to both Manchester United and Barcelona, especially the latter, after Spurs failed to qualify fo the 2012-13 edition of the Champions League.

The deal reportedly takes Bale’s wages to £75,000 and makes him one of the top earners at the Lane. However Spurs are unlikely to be able to keep their other prized asset, Croatian midfielder Luka Modric, who seems determined to leave for Real Madrid this summer. Spurs however will dig in for a transfer fee of around £40 million that will allow them to sign replacements for the Croatian medio.
