Arsenal sign young striker, as Bender bid is turned down

Arsenal have completed the signing of former-Auxerre youngster Yaya Sanogo on a free transfer. The 20-year-old had long been linked with a switch to the Gunners and he has now completed the move.

The young striker has impressed at the under-20 World Cup for his national side. Sanogo made just 24 appearances for Auxerre, scoring 11 goals. He has signed a long-term deal with the side from north London, after his contract with the French club expired.

According to the Guardian, Arsenal have failed with a £18.5million bid for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender. The German club have told the Gunners that Bender is not for sale at any price this summer.

Bender is highly-rated and expected to play a big part in the Germany national team for years to come. Leverkusen has no need to sell, as the German club have already sold Andre Schurrle to Chelsea and full-back Dani Carvajal to Real Madrid this summer.

Meanwhile, Italian keeper Vito Mannone has joined Sunderland for a fee in the region of £2million. The Italian follows Johan Djourou out of the Emirates exit door, as the Switzerland international has joined Hamburg in a season-long loan deal.
