Arsenal have completed the signing of Bolivia U-20 international Samuel Galindo from Real America on an undisclosed fee. Galindo is believed to be in the Patrick Vieira mould. At 6 feet 3 inches, the tall South American is very accomplished in the air and is also very good with the ball at his feet. He usually likes to play in the hole behind the sole striker.
Galindo was named in the team of the tournament at the Under 17 Championships that were held in Bolivia in May last year. Galindo subsequently became the captain of the Bolivia under-20 side and was also called up to train with the senior squad ahead of World Cup qualification games against Venezuela and Chile.
Arsene Wenger is looking to send Galindo out on loan to Spain – just as he had done with Carlos Vela and Fran Merida – so that the youngster gains valuable experience of playing in Europe before being blooded into the Premier League. Galindo was thought to be very close to a move to Goodison Park after a trial with Everton in December but the Bolivian chose Arsenal over the Toffees.
