England international midfielder Joe Cole looks set to sensational leave Chelsea for nothing this summer. The 28 year-olds contract expires in June and he has allegedly asked for a contract rise of over £50,000 a week. Chelsea are so far are only prepared to offer the England star a £20,000 rise on his £80,000 a week contract.
Cole has only just recovered from a long-term injury but is still highly rated. He wants parity with big earners Michael Ballack, Nicolas Anelka and Michael Essien at the Bridge. He knows the club want to keep him and hes in the driving seat of negotiations with so many other clubs interested in signing him.
The chase is now on for Cole with Manchester City, Tottenham and Manchester United all interested in signing him. He could discuss a move abroad as he is in the last six months of his contract. However Cole is believed to want to stay in England.
Manchester City are in pole position due to the extraordinary finances available to boss Roberto Mancini. However he could choose to join champions Manchester United in hope of adding to the silverware hes already won at Stamford Bridge.
