The Brazilian National Football Federation have officially confirmed that Carlo Ancelotti will be the national team’s new manager. Ancelotti will take over at Brazil following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season with Real Madrid.
The Italian veteran will be the first foreign coach in Brazil’s history and the Selecao will be hoping that he can get them to winning ways following recent years of under-achievement, especially at World Cups. Brazil were even beaten 7-1 by Germany at home in their own World Cup about a decade ago.
Ancelotti has been hugely successful across his two stints at Real Madrid, but the current 24/25 season has been a disappointing one for him, with Real set to end the season trophyless. They are seven points behind arch rivals Barcelona with three games to play and were beaten 4-3 in the Classico over the weekend despite taking an early 2-0 lead.
Real were knocked out of the Champions League by Arsenal and also lost the Spanish Kings Cup and the Super Cup to Barcelona earlier this year.
Los Blancos will therefore have a new coach for the Club World Cup- widely expected to be Xabi Alonso, who also announced his departure from Bayer Leverkusen a few days ago.
