Moyes Looks To Strength With Pavlyuchenko

Everton boss David Moyes is chasing the signature of Tottenham’s Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko. The former Spartak Moscow star struggled to score goals at White Hart Lane last season, scoring just five goals in 28 league appearances last season. Tottenham are hoping to recover the £13.8million that they paid for the striker, but it looks likely they will have to settle for less to unload the player.

A problem that could scupper the transfer is the Russian’s frustration with adapting to living in England. The players English is still poor and its been suggested that he can’t communicate with his teammates. The player is also being tracked by Stuttgart, with general manager Horst Heldt admitting hes on their hit list this summer.

The German club are looking for a replacement for Mario Gomez, who left the club to join Bayern Munich in a deal worth £25million. Heldt told the media “We are looking for firepower and Roman is a good striker and we have considered his name.”

The Everton boss is also likely to pursue the signings of Irish internationals Stephen Hunt and Michael Doyle of Reading. Hunt came close to joining the Toffee’s in the January transfer window, but the deal collapsed at the last minute. Doyle has been linked with a move away from the Royals before with Aston Villa registering an interest, however it looks likely Everton could now clinch his signature.
