Plymouth sign duo, while Coventry look at youngster

Championship side Plymouth Argyle have strengthened their squad with the double signing of Bondz N’Gala and Onismor Bhasera. Defender N’Gala has joined on loan from West Ham and Zimbabwean full-back Bhasera will move to Home Park if his application for a work permit is successful.

N’Gala will move to Plymouth on Thursday and could go straight into the starting line-up for their trip to Coventry on Saturday. Plymouth are currently struggling in the relegation zone and Argyle boss Paul Mariner is hoping the arrival of defensive reinforcement’s helps improve the sides results.

Mariner told the clubs official website: “N’Gala’s a very, very strong defender. He’s not an archetypal Championship defender, he’s got more ability than that, but he’s an uncompromising defender who likes to defend. He’s been on our radar. He came in for a week’s training and we wanted to keep him but it wasn’t happening.

Plymouth’s Championship rivals Coventry City are taking a look at young Hinckley defender Connor Franklin. The 18 year-old full-back played in a trial game on Tuesday night hoping to impress Sky Blues boss Chris Coleman.

The left-back was a former a trainee at Leicester City before the Foxes released him. He is apparently attracting interest from a number of league clubs but Coventry are the first to have made a move for the youngster.

United sign starlet but look set to miss out on midfield duo

Premier League champions Manchester United have completed the signing of Marnick Vermijl, according to his father. The 18 year-old Belgian impressed the United coaching staff during trials at United. His club Standard Liege will receive compensation in the region of £250,000 for the player’s services.

Vermijl has signed a three year contract with the champions and will move to Old Trafford this summer. The youngster is a wing back who can play on both sides of the pitch.

Vermijl’s dad told Het Laatste Nieuws: “They said he was the best right or left-back they had seen in years. Ferguson told me that Marnick in the following years would become a fixture in the Manchester United squad.”

Two of Manchester United biggest targets Franck Ribery and Angel Di Maria both look unlikely to move to Old Trafford. United were linked with a move for Frenchman Ribery in the summer as a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

However Ribery has revealed that three clubs are interested in signing him. Those are Real Madrid, Barcelona and United’s Premier League rivals Chelsea. United now look likely to turn their attentions to other targets.

One of those other targets was believed to be Benfica winger Angel Di Maria. However the Argentine star has refused to talk about a move and is preferring to concentrate on his current side. If Di Maria does become available United will be competing with AC Milan, Chelsea and Barcelona for the 22 year-olds signature.

Leeds sign veteran striker

League One side Leeds United have signed veteran striker Paul Dickov on a short term deal until the end of the season. The Yorkshire side have added the 37 year-old to their squad in a bid to help their promotion push to the Championship.

Dickov has previously appeared for both Derby County and Leicester City this season. However the Foxes decided to release the striker in February. The former Manchester City star has been training with Leeds in a bid to win a contract and has impressed boss Simon Grayson. Dickov had to seek permission from FIFA to make the move, as hes already played for two clubs this season.

Leeds boss Simon Grayson told the clubs official website: “We’re delighted to get things finalised and welcome Paul on board. He has been training with us, we know all about him and what he will bring to the squad over the next few months.

“He brings experience both on the pitch and in and around the dressing room, and he is a good short-term signing for the club.”

The Scottish striker has played more than 400 games in his career, scoring over a hundred goals with 10 clubs. He won cult status at Manchester City for scoring crucial goals and working hard for the team.

Warnock set for Rangers as Palace move for Hart

Crystal Palace boss Neil Warnock looks set to join fellow Championship side QPR on a three and a half year deal. Most of the details have been agreed there are just a few fine details to be completed and the 61 year-old will be the new Rangers boss.

QPR have went through numerous managers in recent years but have failed to achieve their goal of making into the Premier League. And the Hoops currently find themselves 20th in the Championship one place above Warnock’s old side Crystal Palace.

Warnock’s first task as Rangers boss is to steer the club to safely this season. The former Sheffield United boss has previous experience at managing struggling clubs and will need it at the volatile London club.

In a strange twist of fate former QPR boss Paul Hart will be unveiled as Palace manager once Warnock has completed the formalities of his move. Hart will be given a contract till the end of the season. The 56 year-old managed QPR for just five games before leaving the club.

Hart also has experience of managing Portsmouth in the Premier League and Nottingham Forest in the Championship. Palace are outside the relegation zone on goal difference after being deduced ten points following the club going into administration.

Rovers sign Gunners starlet, while Brighton eye youngster stay

Championship side Doncaster Rovers have signed Arsenal youngster Jay Emmanuel-Thomas on loan. The highly rated midfielder has already spent a successful loan spell at Rovers Championship rivals Blackpool earlier this season.

The 19 year-old is delighted to get a chance for regular first team football again. He told Doncaster’s official website: “A few days ago, the two clubs started talking and Arsenal spoke to me. My agent then spoke to Doncaster Rovers and it all went from there,”

The youngster is versatile having played at left-back, as a striker and also as a winger during his short career. He has also shown good leadership skills by captaining Arsenal’s under-18 at the age of just 16. He has yet to appear for the Gunners first team but is rated highly at the Emirates.

League One side Brighton are hoping to extend the stay of Newcastle winger Kazenga LuaLua. The youngster has impressed in his one-month loan spell. He has made three appearances for the Seagulls in that spell and Brighton boss Gus Poyet is hoping to extend his loan deal.

Poyet told the Argus:”It is something that is not only in our hands, it depends most on Newcastle. We have been in touch with them already.”

Leicester interested in striker, while Derby chase Rooney

Championship side Leicester City are interested in signing young Cliftonville striker Liam Boyce. Swansea City have also been looking at the youngster. Leicester have already sent Gerry Taggart, a member of the Foxes backroom staff to scout the 18 year-old on a number of occasions.

The Irish sides manager Eddie Patterson has revealed the interest from the Championship club. He told the Leicester Mercury: “We’re aware that Leicester are interested and Gerry Taggart has watched a number of our games. Other clubs have watched him but nobody has been in touch.”

Leicester’s Midland’s rivals Derby County are hoping to get another look at young Macclesfield striker John Rooney. The younger brother of Wayne has been training with County and was due to make an appearance for their reserves against Sheffield United. However the game was called off due to the weather.

Derby boss Nigel Clough was believed to be impressed by the 19 year-old in training, but won’t make a decision on whether to sign him until he has seen the youngster play in a game. Clough will be hoping that Rooney will be allowed to return next week and maybe play in a reserve team game.

Rooney is expected to be in the Macclesfield squad for their home clash with Rochdale on Saturday. A return next week however wouldn’t prove impossible.

League Two duo strengthen squads

League Two side Dagenham and Redbridge have signed Plymouth midfielder Yoann Folly on a month’s loan deal. Folly has struggled to command a regular place in the Plymouth first team this season and has made just seven appearances for Argyle.

The former French youth international is likely to go straight into the Daggers squad for their home game against Grimsby on Saturday. Folly is the second player to move to Dagenham in the last few weeks after defender Damien McCrory also made the move.

Fellow League Two side Burton Albion have also strengthened their squad with the signing of midfielder Romuald Boco. The Benin international has signed a contract until the end of the season after impressing following a trial with the club.

Boco had a previous spell with the club and was the first player to score for the Albion in the football league. Burton boss Paul Peschisolido recently told the Burton Mail: “Romuald trained with us before he went away for the Cup of Nations, and now he’s back I’m hoping we can sort something out with him for the rest of the season.

“I really like him because he can play in about five positions, ranging from full-back to midfield and up front.”

West Brom sign Wigan midfielder

Championship high-fliers West Brom have signed Wigan midfielder Ben Watson on loan until the end of the season. Watson hasn’t featured much for Wigan under boss Roberto Matinez this season and has only took part in cup games.

The midfielder has now decided to move on to gain regular first team football. Watson also spent a spell on-loan at fellow Championship side Queens Park Rangers earlier in the season. It proved relatively successful as he made 16 appearances and scored twice.

West Brom boss Roberto Di Matteo is delighted to have signed the 24 year-old. He told the clubs official website: “Having lost Gonzalo Jara for the remainder of the season to injury, we have been looking to strengthen the central midfield area and we are very pleased that Ben has joined us,”

“Ben is very good technically and is a competitive player who knows the Championship very well. He has played many times at this level and knows what is required, which should help him to hit the ground running.”

Watson will be unavailable for West Brom’s FA Cup fifth round tie against Reading on Wednesday but he should be in the Baggies squad for the visit of Derby on Saturday. West Brom are also believed to be interested in signing Watson’s Wigan teammate Jason Koumas. However the Baggies could sign the Welsh international in the summer.

Derby sign promising Arsenal youngster

Championship side Derby County have strengthened their attack with the signing of Arsenal Gilles Sanu on loan for the rest of the season. The highly rated youngster could go straight into the Derby squad to play Swansea on Saturday at Pride Park.

The youngster has represented France at youth international level and is hoping to gain some first team experience while at Pride Park. He also captained the French under-18 international side. Sanu joined the Arsenal academy from French side Chateauroux.

He could cost the Gunners £1million in compensation depending on appearances. He made his first team debut in the League Cup at West Brom in September 2009. He also has experience of playing for the Gunners in the Champions League, making his debut against Olympiakos in December 2009.

Derby boss Nigel Clough was desperate to add to his attacking options. Clough told the clubs official website: “We’ve been monitoring the progress of Gilles for quite a while and it has been no secret we’ve been looking to get him to Derby County,”

“It has taken a little while to get everything done, but we’re delighted we’ve been able to secure a deal with Arsenal to bring him here”

Tranmere sign youngster as Exeter sign striker

League One strugglers Tranmere Rovers have signed Leicester City defender Luke O’Neill on a month’s loan. The 18 year-old has made three first team appearances for the Foxes and has also played for England at under-17 international level.

Tranmere boss Les Parry told the media: “I’m pleased to have been able to bring Luke in on loan. With Shaleum Logan suspended for two games we needed cover at right-back and Luke will provide that. He is a talented young defender who has a bright future ahead of him.

The youngster will be in the squad for Rovers vital home clash with Leyton Orient on Saturday. Rovers are currently in the League One relegation zone on goal difference.

Tranmere’s fellow League One strugglers Exeter have strengthend their strikeforce with the signing of Marcus Haber on month’s loan from West Brom. The youngster joined the Baggies from Canadian side Vancouver Whitecaps in the transfer window but has yet to make a first team appearance.

The 21 year-old has made just two appearances for the West Brom reserves. West Brom boss Roberto Di Matteo has decided to let the striker go on loan to gain more experience of English football. He could be in the Grecians squad for Exeter’s crucial home game against Stockport on Saturday.
