Premier League strugglers Reading have completed the signing of striker Nick Blackman from League One club Sheffield United. The 23 year-old has scored 14 times this season for the Blades and has joined the Royals for a fee in the region of £1.2million.
Blackman impressed Royals boss Brian McDermott in the two clubs FA Cup tie at the weekend. The young striker started his career in lower league football at Macclesfield and in 2009 moved to rivals Blackburn.
He struggled to break into the first team at Ewood Park and had various loan spells at the likes of Oldham and Blackpool. However, he eventually joined the Blades last summer and has helped his team challenge for promotion from League One.
Reading are not short on strikers with both Adam Le Fondre and Pavel Pogrebnyak having hit the target in recent weeks. Blackman will provide an extra attacking option for the side from Berkshire.Subscribe to Football Transfers by Email

Premier League strugglers Reading are preparing a £8million bid for Blackpool winger Tom Ince according to the People newspaper. The England under-21 has attracted attention from elsewhere due to his displays for the Tangerines this season and last season.
The 20 year-old has scored 15 goals in the Championship from his position on the wing for Ian Holloway’s men this season. Former-club Liverpool had been expected to re-sign the youngster, but it now seems the Reds have competition for Ince.
Welsh side Swansea City are also believed to be monitoring Ince’s situation at Bloomfield Road. However, it seems that Reading look to be in pole position to sign Paul Ince’s son. The Royals are on a good run of form and are now in with a good chance of staying in the top flight. The signing of Tom Ince would be a coup for the side from Berkshire.Subscribe to Football Transfers by Email
