According to Sky Sports, Everton are looking to strengthen the centre of their midfield with the signings of James McCarthy from Wigan and Sevilla’s Gary Medel. Neither player would be a cheap acquisition though.
Everton boss Roberto Martinez has already brought in three players from his former-club Wigan in Arouna Kone, Joel Robles, and Antolin Alcaraz. If these reports are accurate then McCarthy could be the next to make the trip to Goodison Park.
Any new signings would mostly have to be paid for by the exit of star midfielder Marouane Fellaini or England left-back Leighton Baines.Subscribe to Football Transfers by Email

According to the Daily Mail, Everton are about to raid Austria Vienna for star striker Philipp Hosiner. The Austrian forward is rated at around £5million by his club, after he scored 32 goals in 34 appearances last season for the club from the Austrian capital.
Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is believed to be looking at strengthening his attack for next season, with his options currently limited. Everton striker Nikica Jelavic is also being linked with a £6million move to Bundesliga club Hamburg. A move for the Hosiner could depend on whether Jelavic moves on or not this summer.Subscribe to Football Transfers by Email

According to the Liverpool Echo, Premier League Everton have made an enquiry about Juventus striker Alessandro Matri. The 28-year-old is set to fall down the pecking order of strikers in Turin, after the Old Lady brought in Carlos Tevez and Fernando Llorente to strengthen their attack earlier this summer.
Juventus have also received an enquiry from Liverpool. However, the Reds are unlikely to make a move until star striker Luis Suarez’s future is resolved. Everton have been told the fee required for the Italian and are now pondering whether to make a move for the former-Genoa star.Subscribe to Football Transfers by Email

According to the Daily Mail, Bundesliga club Hamburg are set to offer Everton £6million for misfiring Croatian international Nikica Jelavic. The 27-year-old struggled to recapture his best form last season, after scoring 11 goals in just 16 appearances in his maiden Premier League season.
Jelavic is expected to compete with new arrival Arouna Kone for a lone striker role at Goodison Park in the new season. However, Jelavic is believed to have been unsettled by the arrival of Ivorian Kone, as he believes that the former-Wigan striker could be Roberto Martinez’s first choice striker in the new season.Subscribe to Football Transfers by Email

According to today’s tabloids, Everton are about to make moves for Chelsea winger Victor Moses and Wigan schemer James McCarthy. Victor Moses prospered at Wigan under Toffees boss Roberto Martinez, but the youngster has struggled to cement a regular place in the Chelsea side since moving to London.
A loan deal with the option of a permanent deal has been mooted, which may suit all parties involved.
Wigan value central midfielder McCarthy in the £20million bracket, while the Toffees are believed to value the Republic of Ireland ace at around £12million. Both clubs could have to compromise for the deal to go through.

Premier League Everton have completed the double signing of ex-Wigan players Antolin Alcaraz and Joel Robles. The signings came on the back of striker Arouna Kone joining the Toffees from the Latics for £5million.
Everton boss Roberto Martinez has now signed two other players that played under him at the DW Stadium. Alcaraz has joined the Toffees on free transfer after his contract with the Lancashire club expired this summer.
The 30-year-old Paraguayan international missed a large portion of last season through injury, but helped his team to defeat Manchester City 1-0 in the FA Cup final in May. However, he could not stop the Latics being relegated to the Championship.
Joel Robles has arrived at Everton from Atletico Madrid for an undisclosed fee and signed a five-year contract with the Toffees. Joel joined Wigan on-loan in January and went on to displace Ali Al Habsi as Wigan’s number one.
The 23-year-old is highly-rated and was part of the Spanish under-21 squad that took part in this summer’s European Championship. He has represented his country at every junior level, but has not yet received a call-up to the senior squad.Subscribe to Football Transfers by Email

Everton boss Roberto Martinez is set to complete the first two signings of his reign on Merseyside. According to the Daily Mail, Wigan duo Arouna Kone and Antolin Alcaraz will be the first players to sign for Everton under the Spaniard.
Martinez of course knows the pair from their time together at the DW Stadium. Alcaraz is available on a free transfer with his contract expiring at Wigan expiring early week. Everton were believed to have had competition for the player signature from Bundesliga club Werder Bremen and La Liga side Malaga.
However, it seems that the Paraguayan would prefer to be reunited with his former-boss on Merseyside. The same goes for Kone.
The Ivorian international had also attracted the interest of Norwich, Swansea, and Liverpool. The 29-year-old has decided to snub interest from elsewhere and join up with Martinez at Goodison Park.
Kone impressed immensely in the Premier League last season, scoring 11 goals despite his team being relegated from the top flight. The striker revealed earlier this week that he did not intend to stay with Wigan in the Championship. He is likely to cost Everton around £5million.Subscribe to Football Transfers by Email

Premier League Everton are set to complete the signing of FC Twente midfielder Leroy Fer for a fee in the region of £8million. The 23 year-old Holland international is due on Merseyside to discuss personal terms and complete the move.
Fer is highly-rated after coming through the renowned youth academy at Dutch giants Feyenoord, before moving onto to FC Twente, where he has scored ten goals in 29 appearances. The young midfielder is known to be a tough tackling central midfielder, who has the nickname ‘the bouncer’ from his younger days in Rotterdam.
The Toffee’s are also being linked with a loan move for Aston Villa striker Darren Bent. The England international has fallen out of favour at Villa Park and looks set to leave the in the near future. Everton are looking to bring in a new striker with regular front man Nikica Jelavic currently going through a lean spell in front of goal.Subscribe to Football Transfers by Email

Leeds United have completed the signing of promising Everton star Ross Barkley on loan. The midfielder, 21, will stay with the Whites for an initial period of one month. Barkley is a product of the Everton academy, had many Championship clubs interested in his signing after an impressive spell on loan at Sheffield Wednesday earlier this season. He netted four times in 13 appearances for the Owls before being recalled by the Toffees.
Barkley thus becomes Leeds’ third signing of the January window after Michael Tonge and Ryan Hall.
Barkley could make his Leeds debut this weekend when they take on Barnsley in the Championship.Subscribe to Football Transfers by Email

Premier League Everton are looking to resign former-defender Joleon Lescott on loan in the January transfer window. The England international left the Toffees to join Manchester City for £23million in 2009, under something of a cloud.
However, Everton boss David Moyes believes he may be able to bring the defender back to Goodison Park this January. Lescott has fallen out of favour at the Etihad Stadium, because of the form of Serbian youngster Matija Nastasic.
It also looks like City boss Roberto Mancini is looking to bring in a new centre-back in January, with the Citizens being linked with Newcastle’s Fabricio Coloccini and Liverpool’s Daniel Agger.
Everton centre-back Johnny Heitinga has also been linked with a move away from Goodison in January, so Lescott would most likely be a replacement for the Holland international. It remains to be seen if Manchester City would allow Lescott to leave on loan though.Subscribe to Football Transfers by Email
