Jennings inches closer to Bayern move

July 4, 2011

Tranmere starlet Dale Jennings has moved closer to a potential transfer to German giants Bayern after Rovers revealed that they had accepted an offer from the Bavarian club for the rising star.

The League One side confirmed the news by saying that they had given Bayern permission to discuss personal terms with Jennings. Tranmere did not mention the size of the bid, but said it was good enough for them to force their hand.

Jennings only made his debut last season for Rovers and scored six goals in 32 appearances for them. He also dazzled fans and pundits with a speedy run that saw him score a marvellous goal against Plymouth Argyle. The goal lead to an unnamed Premier League club making an offer for him in January, which Tranmere rejected.

Addicks sign Wiggins

July 1, 2011

Charlton Athletic have announced the signing of Rhoy Wiggins from AFC Bournemouth. The transfer fee paid by the Addicks to the Cherries was not announced by either club, but sources have it to be somewhere in the £250,000 range. Wiggins has signed a three year contract with Charlton and becomes their ninth acquisition of the summer window.

Welsh U-19 international Wiggins handed in a transfer request at Bournemouth over six months ago and was the subject of interest from several rival clubs. Watford also had their bid accepted but the Hornets’ quest to acquire Wiggins was hijacked by a late bid from Charlton.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Mitchell said that he was relieved to see the Wiggins transfer saga end, adding that it had been pretty obvious that the young defender would not turn out for the Cherries in the forthcoming 11/12 season.

Hartlepool fail to land LuaLua

The forward is currently a free agent after being released by Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia.

If LuaLua had agreed to Wadsworth’s, it would have reunited him with former Newcastle team mate Nolberto Solano, who surprised one and all by signing for Pools this summer.

LuaLua last played for an English club in the form of Pompey in 2007 and is hopeful of continuing his adventure on the continent in the coming years.
