Bednar signs for Blackpool

West Bromwich Albion striker Roman Bednar has left the club to join Championship outfit Blackpool on a free transfer. The Czech striker was unable to break into the first team at the Hawthorns, whom he joined in 2008 from Heart of Midlothian, and opted for a switch of surroundings to Bloomfield Road.

Bednar was a regular in his initial days at the Hawthorns, netting 34 times for them, but his last goal in club colours was way back in the 2009-10 season. He has made only one appearance for Roy Hodgson’s side in the current 11-12 season and Blackpool boss Ian Holloway said he hoped the forward would help them in their push for promotion back to the Premier League.
