Baggies clinch Ridgewell signing
January 31, 2012
West Bromwich Albion have completed the signing of defender Liam Ridgewell from Championship side Birmingham City. Ridgewell passed his medical and has put pen to paper a two and a half year deal at the Hawthorns, with the option of a further year. The fee WBA paid for Ridgewell is unclear, but is reported to be somewhere in the £2m region.
Ridgewell’s transfer has happened too late for the defender to take part in West Brom’s midweek clash against Fulham, but he could make his debut this weekend when Roy Hodgson’s side take on Swansea City.
Ridgewell, a left back who can also play in the centre if required, joined Birmingham from Aston Villa around five years ago.

Transfer Deadline Day Specials
January 31, 2012
There are only hours left for the end of the January 2012 transfer window and Premier League clubs are busy adding the finishing touches to their squads so that they can achieve their requisite targets for the 2011/12 season. Here we take a look at some possible moves that can shake up what has otherwise been a sedate window.
The biggest potential transfer of January 2012 is obviously Argentine striker Carlos Tevez, who has eaten reams and reams of newsprint since that infamous night in Munich when he refused to take the pitch.
Italian giants AC Milan were considered the favourites to sign Tevez, but Liverpool have emerged as late suitors as Kenny Dalglish tries to refurbish his goal shy attacking line.
Milan are 9/2 to sign Tevez while Liverpool are being quoted at 16/1 at Sky Bet Transfer Deadline Day Specials.
From Tevez the striker we go to Samba the defender. The strong Blackburn centre half has said he wants immediate “divorce” from the club. His old manager Mark Hughes is a favourite to sign him, but Harry Redknapp also fancies the Congolese international.
QPR at 6/1 to secure Samba’s signature while Spurs are 7/2 to sign him.
Manchester United have two players very likely to make a switch before the transfer window ends- Bulgarian hitman Dimitar Berbatov and midfield wonderkid Ravel Morrison.
Berbatov looks a good bet at 16/1 to join former club Bayer Leverkusen, while Morrison is at 6/1 to join Newcastle United
The other widely discussed transfer is that of Croatian striker Nikica Jelavic, who has been linked with a host of Premier League outfits as well as promotion hopefuls West Ham
Everton are at 1/2 to snap up Jelavic while West Ham are being quoted at a more long 11/2.

Trotters swoop for Arsenal’s Japanese starlet
January 31, 2012
We had reported a while back that French outfit Valenciennes were interested in signing Arsenal’s young Japanese starlet Ryo Miyaichi on loan. However Bolton have pipped the Ligue 1 club to his signing as the Gunners today confirmed that the forward would spend the rest of the 11/12 season on loan at the Reebok Stadium.
It is believed that Jack Wilshere’s positive experience and development at the Reebok during the 2009-10 season went a long way in convincing Arsenal to send Ryo out to the North-West instead of sending him down south to France.
Bolton manager Owen Coyle was extremely happy with the signing and said ” He (Ryo)’s a young player with tremendous promise and potential and hopefully at Bolton we can give him a platform on which he can display his qualities”

Chelsea sign Belgian starlet
January 31, 2012
Chelsea have completed the signing of Belgian wonderkid Kevin de Bruyne from Genk. The 19 year old had been linked with the Blues for quite some time now and also had clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United, among others, tracking his progress. The Blues have reportedly paid Genk a reported £7m fee for De Bruyne, who has put pen to paper a five and a half year contract at Stamford Bridge.
However Blues fans will have to wait till the summer to see De Bruyne in a Chelsea shirt as the London club have also agreed to loan him back to Genk till the end of the current season.
De Bruyne is the third Belgian to join Chelsea in recent months after the acquisitions of Romelu Lukaku and Thibault Courtois.

Arsenal to sign young Dortmund star?
January 31, 2012
Unfortunately for Arsenal fans, this Dortmund player is not Mario Goetze. Instead Arsene Wenger looks set to continue his policy of attracting young, talented but cheap players to the Emirates by landing Thomas Eisfeld from the German giants.
The deal isn’t complete yet and is subject to a rigorous medical because of Eisfeld’s past injury problems- he suffered a torn cruciate ligament in 2009 that greatly hampered his development at the Westfalenstadion.
Eisfeld is out of contract at Dortmund in the summer and if the Gunners do agree to sign him, they will have to pay a modest compensation fee to BVB, believed to be somewhere in the £400,000- £420,000 mark.

Baggies weigh up Bajrami bid
January 30, 2012
West Bromwich Albion are interested in FC Twente’s winger Emir Bajrami and are keen to get the Swedish international to sign on the dotted line before the end of the January transfer window. Baggies boss Roy Hodgson turned his attention to Bajrami after cooling his interest in Zenit St.Petersburg’s Hungarian star Szabolcs Huszti.
Bajrami, who arrived at Twente from Elfsborg in his native Sweden in 2010, has grown into his own following the sale of Bryan Ruiz to Fulham. The 23 year old has already scored four times and new manager Steve McClaren, who started him in his first two games in charge, seems to consider him as part of his long term plans.
West Brom are currently 15th in the Premier League.

Former Chelsea defender joins Southend
January 30, 2012
Southend United have completed the signing of Pat Baldwin from Colchester United. Baldwin, a former Chelsea trainee, has joined the Shrimpers on a free transfer. Baldwin could make his Southend debut as early as Tuesday when they take on Swindon Town. He is the Shrimpers’ sixth signing of the January 2012 transfer window.
Baldwin previously had a loan spell with Southend in the 2009-10 season.

Eder reveals West Ham talks collapse
January 30, 2012
Academica striker Eder has revealed that his proposed move to Championship promotion hopefuls West Ham United has broken down. The forward, who has also been the subject of interest from Porto and Everton, said that a meeting between him and the Hammers had been conducted, but they could not reach upon an agreement as talks failed to materialise.
Undeterred by their failure to swoop for Eder, West Ham have now turned their attention to Brazilian Ze Eduardo, who plays for Serie A outfit Genoa CFC. The Hammers want a loan move, much like they did with Eder, and hope to have the move wrapped up before the conclusion of the transfer window on Tuesday night.
