Cobblers swoop for duo

September 30, 2011

Northampton Town have completed the double signings of Chris Arthur and George Baldock. Arthur has joined the Cobblers on a three month deal that will keep him at the club till January while Baldock has been taken on a one month loan from Milton Keynes Dons.

21 year old winger Arthur was once on the books of QPR but failed to make the grade with the Hoops and consequently dropped leagues and last represented Havant & Waterlooville.

Midfielder Baldock, 18, who has made five first team appearances for MK Dons, is the younger brother of West Ham United striker Sam Baldock.

Both players could make their debut for the Cobblers this weekend against Barnet.

Adam Reeds joins Bantams on loan

September 30, 2011

Bradford City have completed the loan signing of youngster Adam Reed. The Sunderland starlet has agreed to join the Bantams in an initial one month loan deal. Reed, 19, made 15 appearances for the Black Cats’ reserve team in the 2010/11 season.

Reed spent the latter half of the 10/11 season at Brentford and impressed the Bees enough for them to extend his loan stint. The Hartlepool born youngster could make his Brentford bow this weekend when the Bantams take on Burton in a league fixture. Manager Phil Parkinson remarked that he was impressed by the “hunger” the youngster showed when he was at Brentford.

Jonjo Shelvey to join Blackpool

September 30, 2011

Liverpool youngster Jonjo Shelvey has agreed to be loaned out to Championship side Blackpool according to Sky Sports. The 19 year old Shelvey is hailed as one of Liverpool’s brightest youth prospects and many clubs have evinced interest in taking him on a short term loan deal.

However Blackpool, who won plaudits for their attacking performance in the Premier League last season, have won the race for his signature. The loan switch also re-unites Shelvey with Thomas Ince and Gerardo Bruna, who joined Blackpool on permanent deals from Liverpool earlier this summer.

With Liverpool’s midfield already being so crowded, manager Dalglish believes that Shelvey’s greatest chance of first team football lies in a loan switch to a lower division club.

Magpies officials are in discussions over a contract extension with Coloccini, who has two years left on his contract at St.James’ Park and Gutierrez has claimed that getting Coloccini to put pen to paper should not be a difficult deal as his compatriot loves life on Tyneside.

Robin Van Persie- I’m in no hurry to pen new deal

September 26, 2011

Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie has revealed that he is no hurry to pen a new deal and commit his future to the club. Van Persie, named as Arsenal’s new skipper by Arsene Wenger following the departure of Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona earlier this summer, has two years left on his current contract.

Arsenal will be keen for Van Persie to commit his future to the club to avoid a Nasri like situation. The talented French midfielder refused to pen a new deal and the Gunners were forced to sell him to Man City in order to avoid losing him for nothing next summer.

Van Persie had this to say about penning a new deal

I do believe you have to look for a right moment to sit down and speak about your own stuff.

It’s not only about me, it’s about the team. We are not talking now because we are so busy – we have games every three or four days.

I still have almost two years left here, so for the moment that’s fine. But I don’t know, we will have to look.

I’m happy with my contract, I’m good. That’s how it is, I can’t say much more. I can’t look into the future.

Opportunities for Parish, who has represented England at U 20 level, have been limited at Villa and he has been loaned out in order to further his career prospects.
