The Iceland international who is currently contracted with Monaco is also coveted by Fulham and Rangers.Pulis is also expected to make a £7 million bid for out-of-favour Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas. Tottenham make one last push for Young
August 30, 2010
England winger Ashley Young is wanted by Harry Redknapp and Spurs are making a final push to secure the services of Young before the closure of the current transfer window. With Tottenham having qualified for the group stages of the Champions League, Redknapp has additional cash to spend. With Villa having been eliminated from Europa League, a move to White Hart Lane would ensure Champions League football for Young and would be a step-up from his current club.
Tottenham are willing to offer around £15 million for the winger. They are also open to a cash plus player deal involving either Keane or Jenas or Hutton moving to Villa Park in exchange for Young. With just one day left for the window to close, Tottenham’s efforts to sign their potential targets have reached their acme. Tottenham are also pushing for the signing of West Ham skipper Scott Parker, Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra and Villareal forward Giuseppe Rossi.

Fulham target Begovic to replace Schwarzer
August 21, 2010
Mark Hughes wants Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic to fill the void left by Mark Schwarzer’s move to Arsenal. Hughes faces stiff competition from Celtic and Chelsea for the services of Begovic. A loan move for Shay Given, who Hughes bought at Manchester City, is also an option but his wages could prove to be a big stumbling block.
Begovic transferred to Stoke from Pompey eight months ago and has made just four appearances for the Potters, playing second fiddle to Thomas Sorenson. Chelsea have made a £4 million offer for the Bosnian custodian and Mark Hughes will have to match the bid. The prospect of playing in the first-team at Craven Cottage will tilt the scales in Hughes’ favour. Chelsea can’t offer first team football to Begovic who will have to play as an understudy to Petr Cech.
Fulham had rejected a £3 million bid for Schwarzer last week. But the Australian goalkeeper has his heart set on a move to the Emirates stadium and Hughes would not want to keep an unhappy player at the club. Schwarzer is expected to complete his move this week leaving Fulham with very less time to find a replacement.

Gallas set to join Spurs on a free
August 19, 2010
Former Arsenal captain William Gallas is closing in on a sensational move to cross-town rivals Tottenham Hotspurs. The French defender is available on a free after he rejected Arsenal’s contract offer over compensation issues. Harry Redknapp has moved quickly to sign the 32-year old centre half who has more than eight years of experience of playing in the Premier League. The wages offered by Tottenham are less than what the player was on while at Arsenal, but Gallas has agreed to take a pay cut. Gallas is expected to have a medical at White Hart Lane on Friday before agreeing on a one-year contract.
The move may not go down well with Arsenal fans. Gallas represented Arsenal for four seasons clocking up 101 appearances. He also captained the Gunners for a couple of seasons before being stripped off the captaincy in the 2008-09 season thanks to an outspoken interview on public television.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has admitted that he would like to have Gallas at the Lane. “I like Gallas,” he said. “I think he’s a great free transfer. I thought at the start of the year there were three fantastic free transfers available – David James, Joe Cole and William Gallas. His wages aren’t a problem. He has not been greedy at all. His people have rung up and we spoke about it.”
Gallas would be Spurs’ second signing of the season following the acquisition of Brazilian midfielder Sandro who was signed for £7 million from Internacional.

Izmailov close to Everton switch
August 17, 2010
David Moyes is on the verge of securing the services of Sporting Lisbon’s midfielder Marat Izmailov. A fee of £4.1 million has been agreed between the two clubs and the player will transfer to Goodison Park subject to a medical.
David Moyes has been a long term admirer of the Russian midfielder. Izmailov’s fall out with new manager Paulo Sergio has helped reignite Moyes’ interest in the player. Izmailov was linked with a £10 million move to Manchester City earlier in the summer, but the switch failed to materialize. Izmailov is keen on switching to Merseyside as he would link up with countryman Diniyar Bilyaletdinov.
After spending eight seasons at Lokomotiv Moskow, Izmailov moved on to Sporting Lisbon in 2008. He played 35 games in his two year stint in Portugal scoring only on four occasions. His ability to play on either wing or as an central attacking midfielder makes him a great asset for any Premier League side. He is also well known for his phenomenal work-rate which endears him to a lot of managers.
If the deal goes through, Marat will become the Toffee’s fifth signing of the season after Jermaine Beckford, Joao Silva, Magaye Gueye and Jan Mucha.

Bellamy to move to Cardiff ?
August 15, 2010
After being left out of the squad for Manchester City’s opening encounter against Tottenham, fiery Welsh forward is looking to his hometown club Cardiff City. Bellamy was banned from training at Manchester City after his recent outbursts against the club and the manager. He decided to train with Dave Jones’ team instead, and is hoping to make a loan-move which could last for six months or the whole season. City have also given him the permission to negotiate terms with the Championship club.
There is a lot of interest in Bellamy from Premier League sides too. Everton and Tottenham are keen on the services of the 31-year old Welshman. With Mark Hughes, Bellamy’s manager at three different clubs, taking over at Fulham, a move to Craven Cottage can never be ruled out as well. Celtic gaffer Neil Lennon is also a huge fan of Bellamy and is keeping tabs on the situation.
Bellamy has been a Cardiff fan since childhood and the prospect of helping them in their promotion bid is too endearing to him. A lot of his family is also based in the South Wales area and a move to Cardiff would see hordes of public flock into the stadium to see their hometown boy in action.

Official: Beattie joins Rangers
August 14, 2010
Glasgow Rangers have announced the signing of England forward James Beattie from Stoke City for a fee of £1.5 million. The former Southampton star has signed a two-year deal at Ibrox with an option of extending it by another year. The 32-year old becomes the first Rangers’ signing for over two years now. The deal was not without its share of drama though as a late bid by Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce had to be foiled in order for the switch to take place.
Beattie will fill the void left by the departure of Kris Boyd to Middlesbrough. As a result of Beattie’s arrival, Rangers have ended their interest in Rapid Vienna’s forward Nikica Jelavic. Beattie had a nightmarish time at Stoke City where he scored just nine times in thirty eight appearances. Many fans at the Britannia stadium had serious reservations about his hunger for the game. The stint with Rangers marks a fresh start for Beattie who said that the prospect of playing in Europe was one of the main reasons for him to join the club.
Rangers were given a boost when Scotland star Lee McCulloch extended his current deal with the club by two years. Rangers are also in the pursuit of Tommy Smith from Portsmouth.

Caicedo to join West Ham on loan
August 12, 2010
After falling way behind in the pecking order at Manchester City, Felipe Caicedo is close to agreeing a season-long loan deal at West Ham United. The 21-year old strong Ecuadorian striker is likely to be left out of Mancini’s 25-member squad for the coming season. West Ham manager Avram Grant made an approach for Caicedo after unsuccessful attempts to sign Loic Remy, Yakubu and Neymar. West Ham are actively looking to introduce a first refusal clause in his loan contract to sign the player on a permanent basis if he impresses during the loan spell.
Caicedo joined City during the tenure of Sven-Goran Eriksson. But he could not cut it during Mark Hughes’ time as manager of City. He has made only 18 appearances for City scoring on only four occasions. He spent the first half of last season on loan at Sporting Lisbon where he played just seven times without scoring. He spent the second half of last season at Malaga in Spain.
