Hearts boss calm over Wallace speculation

November 10, 2009

Hearts boss Csaba Laszlo has revealed that he is calm over speculation linking defender Lee Wallace with a move to Championship side Ipswich. The 22 year-old has been in fine form in the last few seasons for the Jambo’s and recently won his first international cap for his country.

Ipswich’s Roy Keane is believed to be interested in signing Wallace and speculation is mounting that he could make a move in the January transfer window. The Hearts chief believes that players who are in-form will always have their futures speculated on.

Laszlo told the clubs official website: “I have watched how Lee Wallace has improved and his first cap for his country was a big moment for him. He did very well for us last season and signed a new contract. We saw many players leave in the summer and I do not want to lose many more.

“But I know how football works and if someone is doing well then it is okay for clubs to be looking at them. We have a young team at Hearts and need experience. Lee is just 22 but is a senior international. He has been part of our defence this season and has helped us a lot at the back.

“He is still learning in the game but is a player who wants to work hard. He is one of the best in his position in Scotland and can be a national player for a long time. If you tell me a club is interested in him, then I say this is normal.”

Manchester City defender Kolo Toure has revealed that he would like to see his brother Yaya Toure join him at Eastlands. Yaya currently plies his trade with European champions Barcelona. He has already been linked with moves to City, Arsenal and Chelsea in previous seasons.

When Kolo asked if he would like City to buy his younger brother, he told the Manchester Evening News: “I hope so. He is a good player, and if he could come to our team that would be great. He has had a few hard times in Barcelona. He doesn’t play a lot, and he loves football and loves to play.

“If he can come, especially to a club in England, he would be really happy because the Premier League is a fantastic place to play football.”

“I’m not disappointed with the treatment I’ve had,” he added.

“I know how things work and I’ve always behaved correctly. Benitez chooses the line-up, and I’m paid to respect his choices. In truth I am a little bit unhappy with my performances. They have not seen the ‘real’ Dossena at Anfield.”

Ferguson told the News of the World: “Ben was always going to lose his place when Edwin Van der Sar came back. You don’t dismiss the quality and experience of Van der Sar. You couldn’t even say he is declining – he is at his peak. He is phenomenal. He really is top dog.

“He is in training every day. He doesn’t miss a session. Plus he has that calmness about him. He never gets excited about what is happening round about him. There are not many in England you can compare him with. The future belongs to Ben of course. Tomasz Kuszczak is a good keeper too so we are quite strong. But Ben will not be allowed out on loan in January. No way.”
