QPR sign Taylor
November 20, 2009
Championship side Queens Park Rangers have signed Chelsea goalkeeper Rhys Taylor on an emergency loan until January. The 19 year-old is being brought in as a backup to first choice Rangers keeper Radek Cerny.
Taylor has yet to make an appearance for the Blues and will see a loan move as a perfect chance to gain some first team experience. His way to the first team at Stamford Bridge is currently blocked by Czech star Petr Cech, Portuguese keeper Hilario and English youngster Ross Turnbull. The youngster is likely to go straight into the Rangers squad for Saturday’s game against Doncaster Rovers.
Rangers manager Jim Magilton is expecting Taylor to benefit greatly and told the clubs official website: “Rhys comes highly recommended and we’re delighted to have him on board. We’ve spoken to all the staff at Chelsea and they rate the boy very highly.
“It gives us the opportunity to work with a very good young goalkeeper and it gives Rhys the chance to work with a top-class goalkeeper and professional in Radek. I’ve no doubt he’ll push Radek all the way and that competition is running throughout the squad, so I couldn’t be happier.”

Tonge signs for Preston on loan
November 19, 2009
Championship side Preston have signed Stoke midfielder Michael Tonge until loan till the end of December. The 26 year-old only joined Stoke last summer for £2million after spending the majority of his career at Sheffield United.
Tonge hasn’t appeared for the Potters in the Premier League this season and has become frustrated by his lack of first opportunities. North End are currently in midtable in the Championship and are hoping to push further up the table and challenge for promotion.
Preston boss Alan Irvine told the clubs official website: “There is no question he has a lot of experience.
“He can play all the way across midfield and he certainly bolsters an area where we have been a little bit short of numbers, particularly since Barry Nicholson broke his leg. He is a creative player. He is good on the ball and he is a player who wants to take the ball. He is a nice passer and he has got a very good work rate.
“Like everyone, he is not guaranteed a game, but we are hoping that he comes in, does well and plays in all eight games for us and does a good job for us. He is looking to get some football and hopefully this will be his opportunity to do that.”

Wood joins Coventry
November 18, 2009
Coventry have completed the signing of Richard Wood from Sheffield Wednesday on loan until January with a view to a permanent transfer. Wood’s contract at Hillsborough expires at the end of the season and hes rejected a new deal.
The Championship side have admitted that they couldn’t accommodate Wood’s contract demands. They have now allowed Wood to move on to pastures new. Wood is expected to sign a three-year deal at the Midlands side in the New Year.
Coventry boss Chris Coleman told the clubs official website: “Richard has been a long-term target for the club and we are pleased to have him here. This is an area of the team that I have wanted to strengthen and this is a great addition to the squad in the short term and we will look to make it permanent in January.”
Wednesday boss Brian Laws has also revealed they will be satisfied to at least get a fee for Wood. Laws revealed: “The deal we have agreed with Coventry means that, while we could have commanded a greater fee if we had been given this position from Richard and his agent in the summer transfer window, we have secured some return for the club as opposed to the zero return we would have received when his contract runs out next summer.
“I will be able to utilise the freed up budget to strengthen our squad ahead of the busy schedule of festive fixtures.”

Duo declare interest in Scotland job
November 17, 2009
Former Hibs manager John Collins and former Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood have both declared their interest in the Scotland managers job. Scotland are looking for a new boss after George Burley was fired on Monday.
Collins has been out of the game since leaving Belgian side Charleroi after a short spell in charge. Collins revealed: “I’d be interested in managing the national team. But it’s not for me to put my name forward, it’s for the SFA to draw up their list. But let’s make no mistake about it, it’s a very tough job. No-one is going to come in with a magic wand and turn us into a fantastic football team.
“There is a lot of work to be done and it will be one stage at a time. The role of any manager in the world is to take a group of players and make them better, make them perform at their peak.”
Calderwood also admitted his interest by saying: “Any Scotsman would be interested and I’m no different,”
“We are all Scottish supporters and the job would be the proudest one you could ever take on. I will not put my name forward but, if the SFA wanted to talk to me about the job, of course I would be interested. Who wouldn’t?
“I spoke to Walter Smith about the job in the past and he told me it was a wonderful job, but one where he missed the day-to-day involvement with the players. Building a rapport with the players in the squad is the key to getting the best out of them and I think I’ve done not too badly on that front.”

November 16, 2009
Representative’s of Palermo goalkeeper Rubinho has denied that his client is heading for Premier League Fulham. Fulham boss Roy Hodgson had been linked with making a £3million move for the Brazilian ace. Rubinho has struggled to get first team football at Palermo after a summer move from Genoa. He had an excellent season at Genoa last season and is highly rated in Italy.
He’s currently second choice behind Salvatore Sirigu and was believed to be considering his future at the club. However his agent has revealed hes not looking to move away from Palermo and that he has not been in touch with anybody from Fulham.
Rubinho’s agent Joao Santos told Mediagol: “Rubinho has a four-year contract with Palermo and he is an important player at the club. I think Palermo know what to do with their key players. We only expect Rubinho to stay because he’s a good keeper.
“I’ve been working in Brazil and I’ve not spoken to anyone, not Fulham or anyone else. The rumours aren’t true. I deny everything that’s been written in recent days. Rubinho is under contract and he’s happy in Palermo. Palermo director Walter Sabatini has always told me that Fernando has to remain in Palermo.”

York Denies Brodie bid
November 15, 2009
Blue Square Premier League side York City have denied they received any bids for striker Richard Brodie. His manager Martin Foyle however expects bids in the January transfer window for the forward. His goal tally was taken to 17 in midweek after he scored a hat-trick against Chester City. He also scored a brace in his sides FA Cup 3-2 victory over Crewe Alexandra last weekend.
League One side Huddersfield Town had been linked with a bid for the in-form ace but according to Foyle so far they haven’t made their interest concrete. He has however admitted that it wouldn’t be a surprise if Town boss Lee Clark did try to snap his striker when the transfer window does open.
Foyle told the York Press: “I’ve not heard anything from Lee Clark, Huddersfield or anybody else, but I expect to and, to be honest, expected to about ten games ago because it’s not just about Brodes’ goals. We’ve seen a massive improvement in him as a player this season and he will be on a lot of people’s radar. There will be speculation but, until I actually get a phone call, we will carry on normally. I know what will probably happen – we will get a derisory offer from somewhere.

Fry told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph: “Mark Cooper has agreed in principle to become our new manager. We have done everything by the book and were going to make a statement at 5pm after Kettering’s game. Mark will sign a three-and-a-half year deal when he comes to the club on Sunday before meeting the players. He will then start on Monday just as we have planned. He is a young, hungry manager who I am personally delighted to have on board.”

Heaton eying Old Trafford exit
November 12, 2009
Young Manchester United goalkeeper Tom Heaton has revealed that he wishes to leave the champions in January. The 23 year-old has just returned from a three-month loan spell at Championship side QPR and he has stated that a permanent move back to the London club would be his preference.
QPR boss Jim Magilton has already revealed an interest in keeping Heaton after being impressed with his attitude in his short period at Loftus Road.
Heaton told the Manchester Evening News: “In an ideal world, I would have stayed down at QPR until January, but there’s no loophole in the agreement. It was a three-month loan and now we can’t do anything until the New Year. My contract at United is up in the summer, from a personal point of view it’s time to move on and start afresh, so I’m hoping to secure a permanent move in January.
“If there’s a chance of that being to QPR, I’d certainly be very, very interested. I’ve had a couple of conversations with the manager and he’s been happy with what I’ve done since I’ve been there. The manager impressed me an awful lot as well and the club appear to be moving in the right direction. Every player wants to play in the Premier League and I’m no different.”

Pavlyuchenko wants Tottenham exit
November 11, 2009
Russian international striker Roman Pavlyuchenko has revealed that he hopes to leave Tottenham in the January transfer window. The striker has made just six appearances so far this season in all competitions and has been frozen out the first team.
He is competing with England forwards Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch and Irish ace Robbie Keane for a place in the starting line-up. Currently boss Harry Redknapp has preferred the other three to the Russian and he is now desperate to leave White Hart Lane for first team football and a possible place at next summers World Cup.
Pavlyuchenko revealed: “I want to leave the club. It is impossible to remain there under the circumstances I find myself in. I have been sitting on the subs’ bench for half a year and as a result lost a place in the starting 11 of the national team.
“And now hopefully we will get to the World Cup – who will rely on a forward who does not play? I want to play and not just warm the bench. Immediately after the games with Slovenia, my agent and I are flying to London for purposeful negotiations and I want to take part in them personally.”
