Hull sign McShane

Hull City have completed the signing of Paul McShane from Sunderland for a fee in the region of £2million. The 23 year-old spent part of last season on-loan at the KC Stadium. The Republic of Ireland international defender making 19 appearances for the Tigers.

The former West Brom star is currently out injured after undergoing an operation on a troublesome knee in July. He was expected to be out injured for up to three months, but hes ahead of schedule in his recovery and could soon make his debut.

Hull boss Phil Brown told Skysports.com: “I think he is well known and well liked - the heart-on-the-sleeve, never-say-die attitude whether he is wearing a Hull, Sunderland or Ireland shirt.

“He can only be an asset because of what he did in the first few months of last season.

“He then watched from afar his team-mates struggling to survive in the Premier League but now we have, I think that is one of the reasons why he wanted to come back.”

Hull could be close to selling defender Michael Turner. Sunderland are believed to close to agreeing a deal for the former Charlton trainee. Sunderland boss Steve Bruce is keen to sign the 25 year-old before the transfer deadline shuts on Tuesday.

Everton set to seal Heitinga deal

Everton are set to complete the £5million signing of Atletico Madrid defender John Heitinga. The Toffee’s are reported to have agreed a fee with the La Liga club for the Dutch international. It will now be a race against time to get all the paperwork signed before Tuesday’s transfer deadline. He currently earns more than the wage structure at Goodison Park, but manager David Moyes seems determined to get his man.

The 25 year-old already has great experience at both club and international level, winning 47 caps for the Netherlands. He only joined Atletico last summer for £7million from Eredivise side Ajax, but has failed to settle in the Spanish capital.

Everton David Moyes is still looking to strengthen his small squad, but it looks like he could abandon his pursuit of Valencia midfielder Ever Banega, after it emerged that the youngster had been doing unsavoury activities on a website.

His club Valencia also now want to keep the Argentinian international with Los Ches currently suffering a lack of options. The Spanish club have also reported received an offer from a German club for the permanent transfer of the player.

The Everton chief could turn to other options such as Cardiff midfielder Joe Ledley, who is also being linked with a move to fellow Premier League club Stoke City. Cardiff manager Dave Jones however has revealed he will only sell for the right price.

Real Madrid sell Dutch pair

Big Spending Real Madrid have recouped some of the money they have spent this summer by selling Dutch pair Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder. Playmaker Wesley Sneijder joined Jose Mourinho at Serie A champions Inter Milan for a reported fee of £15million. The former Ajax ace has signed a five-year deal at the San Siro.

The 25 year-old told the clubs official website: “Mourinho is one of the world’s greatest coaches,”

“I’m really happy to be able to work with him and he has had a really important role in this decision.

“I think Inter is an amazing club, one of the biggest in the world, so I’m very happy to be here,”

“We have a great team at the moment so I think I will have a great time here.”

Arjen Robben has joined German giants Bayern Munich for a fee believed to be £22million. He has signed a four- contract at the Allianz Arena. Robben told Bayern’s official website: “I feel very welcome here. This is a big club with a great history and I am delighted to be here now.”

Real boss Manuel Pellegrini has revealed that he didn’t particular want to sell the pair, but the books needed to balanced at the Bernabeu.“They are two good players who would have been useful to us,” he revealed. Sneijder impressed in his first season in La Liga, but last season he suffered injury problems which didn’t help his form. Arjen Robben also suffered injury and fitness problems last season. Although the former Chelsea winger found decent form towards the end of the season.

Donati returns to Italy

Promoted Serie A side Bari have signed Italian midfielder Massimo Donati from Scottish giants Celtic. Bari will pay the Bhoys £1.5million for the services of Donati, who marked his last Celtic appearance with a goal ( against Arsenal in the Champions League)

Bari have given Donati a four year contract. Donati was signed by the Hoops in 2007 from AC Milan for £3m. His career at Celtic Park seemed to be on the decline towards the end of the 08-09 season, but Tony Mowbray gave him a fresh lease of life as he considered Donati to be very much part of the Celtic first XI.

Donati started his career with Atalanta before moving to AC Milan in 2001. However he never really established himself at the San Siro and was loaned out to a host of Italian clubs before moving north to Scotland in 2007.

Stoke sign Tuncay

Stoke City have completed the £5million signing of Middlesbrough striker Tuncay Sanli. The Turkish international follows former Boro teammate Robert Huth in to the club, after the German defender completed a £5million move on Thursday.

Tuncay has played 68 games for his country and brings with him immense experience. The duo could be in the City squad for Saturdays game with Sunderland, pending permission from the FA and Premier League.

Stoke chief executive Tony Scholes told the clubs official website: “This is a fantastic transfer double for the club,”

“We are delighted to bring a player of Tuncay’s quality to the club because he had attracted interest from a number of big clubs, as indeed had Huth.

“Therefore, this is a powerful statement of our intentions as we look to move the club forward.”

The Potters boss Tony Pulis also revealed his delight at capturing the pair by saying:

“Tuncay is an exciting player with his pace and skill who will certainly get the crowd going. He is also a player of international calibre and a leader of his national team.”

“Robert Huth has great presence about him. He’s a big, strong defender and the fact that he has played nearly 20 times for Germany is some recommendation in my book. He’s one you know you can lean on.”

Edwards and Leadbitter set for Ipswich move

After a dismal start to the new season, which has seen Ipswich gain only a solitary point out of four games, Roy Keane has turned to Sunderland to sign new faces. Keane made a £5 million bid for the services of Grant Leadbitter and Carlos Edwards, which has been accepted by Sunderland and the players will move to Ipswich after agreeing personal contracts. Both Leadbitter and Edwards were part of the Sunderland squad which gained promotion from the Championship under the guidance of Keane.

Carlos Edwards was infact signed by Keane from Luton for £1.4million in January 2007 and has failed to find a place in the starting line up while Albanian midfielder Lorik Cana’s arrival has limited the opportunities for Leadbitter.

Leadbitter’s agent Matthew Buck today confirmed that Sunderland have given him permission to open talks with Ipswich -

Buck said: “A fee has been agreed between Sunderland and Ipswich for Grant and we have been given permission to open talks with Ipswich. We are heading down for talks now and we will see what happens.”

Keane is also interested in signing central defender Nyron Nosworthy and winger Daryl Murphy. Both have been surplus to requirements at the Stadium of Light and have been offered to Pompey and Hull City respectively.

Cobblers snap up Coden on loan

August 27, 2009

Northampton Town have signed Luke Coden on a month long loan from Sheffield Wednesday. The 20 year old, who came through the youth ranks at Wednesday, has previously gone on loan to Chesterfield and Rushden and Diamonds.

Cobblers boss Stuart Gray added that he was pleased to have secured Boden’s signature given the fact there were two or three League One clubs also in the race.

Boden is expected to make his Northampton Town debut on Saturday against Burton Albion. Northampton currently have 7 points from four games in the new season. They were relegated from League One last season.

Everton agree Distin fee

Everton have agreed a reported fee of £5million for Portsmouth defender Sylvain Distin. The 31 year-old is currently on Merseyside having a medical and is expected to sign a three-year deal at Goodison Park. The former Manchester City defender has chosen the Toffee’s ahead of Aston Villa.

Everton chief executive Robert Elstone revealed that the deal is nearly done on the clubs official website saying: “After Sylvain made it clear his preferred destination was Goodison, the chairman [Bill Kenwright] moved quickly to finalise the deal - and Sylvain is now on his way to Merseyside to undergo a medical,”

Everton boss David Moyes has already revealed that he is expecting to make four signings or more before the transfer window shuts on 1st September. He has still money to spend after the sale of defender Joleon Lescott to Manchester City £24million.

Aston Villa meanwhile have swooped for Manchester City defender Richard Dunne, after missing out on Distin. The Midlands side have agreed a fee with City and the Republic of Ireland international is currently in the Midlands discussing personal terms and having a medical. The former Everton player has fallen down the pecking order at City with the arrival of Lescott and also Kolo Toure from Arsenal.

Queens Park Rangers sign Jay Simpson on loan

Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers have signed Jay Simpson on a season long loan from Arsenal. The 20 year could make his debut for the Hoops in Saturday’s league game against Scunthorpe United. QPR reportedly beat off competition from three Premier League clubs to secure Simpson’s services, and the youngster has himself said that a meeting with Jim Magilton convinced him to move to Loftus Road at this crucial juncture of his career

Simpson has been at Arsenal since 1999, and has been loaned out to Millwall and West Bromwich Albion in the past.

He was part of the young Arsenal side that destroyed Wigan Athletic in the third round of the Carling Cup last season, and scored twice in that game.

West Ham to sign Diamanti and Chamakh

According to Livorno president Aldo Spinelli, West Ham are close to signing talented Italian stiker Alessandro Diamanti. West Ham have agreed a fee of around £5.7 million which will be paid in installments over three years. Diamanti scored 15 goals in Serie B last season and caught the eye of many big European teams. West Ham are in dire need of attacking alternatives after England international striker Dean Ashton had to retire through injury. Diamanti was reported to be in London today undergoing medical before signing a long term contract.

Livorno’s director of sport, Nelso Ricci said -

West Ham will pay €6.5 million over three years. We couldn’t have kept a player who wanted to leave for another club.’Diamanti told us he wanted to go to England as it was a chance of a lifetime for him’

Livorno have already strengthened their squad with the cash they have received for Diamanti. They have signed Nelson Rivas for Inter Milan and Mozart from Palmerias.

West Ham are also closing in on Bordeaux attacker Marouane Chamakh. Reports suggest that the Hammers will have to raise money by selling some players to pay Chamakh’s transfer fee. Defender James Collins is the subject of interest of many Premier League clubs like Aston Villa and Stoke. West Ham are demanding £5 million for Collins - a fee that would be used to lure Chamakh from Bordeaux.
