Premier League Transfer talk- May 15
May 15, 2009
Fresh gossip from today’s newspapers regarding the Premier League.
French youngster Paul Pogba is set to move to the Premiership, and surprisingly, it is NOT Arsenal where he is going. Manchester United have reportedly beaten Arsenal to the Le Havre French U-16 international’s signature- a major coup for SAF in Arsene’s own backyard.
Meanwhile United have reportedly asked Kia Joorabchian to reduce Carlos Tevez’s asking price. Tevez has allegedly rejected a lucrative move to Real Madrid, and wants to stay in England.
Liverpool and Barcelona are fighting it out for Cadiz youngster Suso. Suso, whose real name is Jesus Fernandez, is being hailed as the next Fabregas in Spain.
Arsene Wenger has said that he doesn’t mind letting Emmanuel Adebayor go to Chelsea or any other top English team.
Andriy Shevchenko could be set for a summer move to his native country after Dynamo Kiev said that “their doors” are always open for him.
Mark Hughes may make a surprise £15m swoop for Ivorian striker Didier Drogba in the summer window.
Ricardo Quaresma will be returning to Inter Milan at the end of his loan spell as Chelsea do not want to make the move permanent.

Manchester United set to sign Brazilian youngster Dodo
May 14, 2009
Manchester United are close to securing the signature of talented Brazilian defender Dodo from Corinthians in a reported £6million deal. Dodo, whose full name is Jose Rodolfo Pires Ribeiro Dodo, is only 17, but United boss Sir Alex Ferguson sees potential in the youngster, and will take him as a special guest to view the Champions League final between the Red Devils and Barcelona before putting pen to paper.
Dodo holds a Portuguese passport, which means he won’t have problems obtaining a work permit. According to reports, Dodo will play the first half of the 2009-10 season in his native Brazil, and return to United in February 2010 when he turns eighteeen. United already have three Brazilians in their set up- twins Fabio and Rafael da Silva and midfielder Anderson, and four if you count Rodrigo Possebon.
In other Premiership gossip, Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz wants a “big team” move. His most likely destination is Eastlands, where boss Mark Hughes spent the full January transfer window trying to persuade Blackburn to allow him to move.
Also, Arsenal’s Togolese international Emmanuel Adebayor is being linked with a move to Chelsea this summer. Carlo Ancelotti, who has been a long time admirer of Adebayor at Milan, is likely to take over the reigns from Guus Hiddink in the summer, and has identified Adebayor as a replacement for Ivory coast striker Didier Drogba.

Liverpool in £15million bid for David Silva
May 13, 2009
According to the Daily Mirror, Liverpool have reportedly offered Valencia £15m for their talented young winger David Silva. The 23 year old, part of Spain’s 2008 European Championship winning squad, is expected to leave the Mestalla this summer along with striker David Villa as Valencia try to reduce their estimated £100m debt.
Silva plays on the left wing, a position that Benitez has been looking to strengthen for quite a while. Liverpool have also been linked with a £12m bid for Middlesbrough’s Stewart Downing in the summer.
Silva has also attracted the attention of Arsenal and Juventus in the past. Reports last year claimed that Valencia had set his asking price at €30m.
Whether £15m will be enough to bring the young winger to Anfield is a completely different question though. The lad is young, has a bright future, and is one of the best in the world in his current position.

Carlos Tevez- where will he go this summer?
May 12, 2009
Argentine striker Carlos Tevez’s loan deal at Manchester United is set to expire later this month. The former Boca Juniors hitman has put in some eye catching performances for United in his time at Old Trafford, but the reigning Premier League champions do not seem eager to keep him at the Theatre of Dreams.
Tevez’s agent Adrian Ruocco has stated that United have made no attempt to get his client to sign a new contract. If United are to get Tevez’s services on a permanent basis, they will have to fork out a fee in the ranger £25-30 million for him.
So where does Tevez go from here?
Kia Joorabchian has said that clubs from Spain, Italy and England are interested in Tevez, who currently wishes to continue playing in the Premier League. Liverpool and Manchester City are the main clubs in England interested in Tevez, and if he joins either of the two, he will probably become a traitor in the eyes of the United supporters.
The other big party being mentioned is Real Madrid, who were thrashed in the Champions League by Liverpool at Anfield.
Liverpool are probably the favourites to sign Tevez, but one wonders where Benitez will fit him. Liverpool currently use a 4-2-3-1, or a 4-5-1 ( which ever way you view it) which has Fernando Torres as their main striker. Will Benitez switch to a 4-4-2, or convert Tevez into a winger, like he did with Dirk Kuyt? Tevez has been used sparingly at United, with Rooney, Ronaldo and Berbatov competing for the strikers’ spots at Old Trafford.
We’ll keep you updated on the Tevez saga. Stay tuned to this blog.
